Message from the Director and Executive Dean

Dear AIWMU Students and WMU Faculty,

This partnership between the 海角社区’s Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry (FoMD) – among North America’s elite medical schools – and Wenzhou Medical University (WMU), one of China’s top international medical schools, aims to establish new standards of excellence in training the next generation of physicians in China.

Through this pioneering initiative, the AIWMU seeks to enhance and broaden healthcare knowledge and practices in China in alignment with the nation’s ambitious Healthy China 2030 plan.

We also aim to create a foundation that leads to a more respectful, personalized, human-to-human relationship between doctors and their patients, while building mutual opportunities for more collaborative research, innovation and education between our two founding educational institutions.

The dynamic, constantly evolving curriculum in the AIWMU program is highly integrated across various disciplines, reflecting ongoing advances in science, health sciences and medical technologies. It is designed to equip you with the knowledge and the thirst for lifelong learning you will need to be an effective physician in the 21st century.

In short, what we are offering is a different perspective on healthcare and medical education. It is one that our respected partners at WMU also embrace, and we look forward to working closely with them for many years to come.

In this rapidly changing world, sharing our knowledge and combining our strengths is essential to keeping our populations healthy and thriving. Our mission to better serve the needs of patients transcends all borders, all languages and all cultures. It is a human goal, nothing more and nothing less.

This is a crucial time for humankind and for the world of medicine. We can either build bridges and reach out to others, or retreat to our silos. We can either embrace new approaches to learning or remain stuck in the past.

By giving our students a solid foundation in current medical practices and offering a broad range of cross-cultural perspectives, our program hopes to carve out new pathways in healthcare.

With your support, I look forward to leading this institute as we build a brighter future for all of us.

Warm regards,

Tracey Hillier
