Sai Vemula

Sai Vemula (they/them) is a third-year medical student, currently immersed in the vibrant community of Amiswaciywaskahikan (Edmonton), and also in Ponoka, AB, as part of a rural longitudinal clerkship program.

Sai brings a unique perspective to their academic journey. With a background in neuroscience and biomedical engineering, Sai's recent focus has shifted towards addressing health inequities and understanding the structural and social determinants of health.

Vision for Social Accountability

Passionate about community-based health interventions, Sai is dedicated to integrating lived experiences into health policy, particularly for marginalized and equity-deserving populations. Sai's research experience spans both quantitative and qualitative methods, predominantly in the biomedical sciences. As a medical student, they serve as the Year 3 EDI councillor for the 2026 class and as a co-Chair of the SRPC Student Mentorship Subcommittee.

Hobbies + Interests

Beyond academia, Sai has honed their skills in public speaking, workshop facilitation, teaching, and content development.
