PLLC offers unique experiential courses open to all undergrads--no matter your major. In these classes, you'll dive into real issues, get creative, and explore what leadership really looks like. Through real-life situations, current events, and engaging discussions that make you think, you'll build leadership skills that go way beyond the classroom.

Each of the following INT D courses listed below count toward the Certificate in Interdisciplinary Leadership Studies, offered by the School of Business in collaboration with the Peter Lougheed Leadership College.

  • Inspired to Lead: Skills You Need (INT D 207) 
  • Inspired to Lead: Your Leadership Canvas (INT D 307)
  • Inspired to Lead: Time to Practice (INT D 407) 

Inspired to Dream: Becoming a Leader (INT D 101) 

Students will engage with impactful leaders, from many backgrounds, who have made a positive contribution to the world. By the end of the course, students will be able to visualize their potential for leadership growth and be inspired to continue their journey to take action. This course is offered entirely online with 10 content modules that are studied asynchronously and 3 synchronous seminars. Content is delivered in multiple formats that include videos, animations, and text. This is a *3 credit course.

INT D 101 may be taken as an exploratory credit, however, if taken as an exploratory credit it cannot be used towards the CILS certificate.

Inspired to Lead: Skills You Need (INT D 207)

Students will learn about practical skills that are important to be successful in leadership across various organizational settings and situations. Reflection and self-development are key components of the course. Open to all students. This is a *3 credit course. 

Prerequisite:

  • INT D 101 (or LEAD 3300)

INT D 207 may be taken as an exploratory credit, however, if taken as an exploratory credit it cannot be used towards the CILS certificate.

Inspired to Lead: Your Leadership Canvas (INT D 307)

Solving societal problems requires that leaders engage across many different domains, requiring them to understand multiple disciplines of thought. Students will examine leadership in public, private and non-governmental cases as well as their intersections. By the end of the course, students will have a strong understanding for their own personal leadership development path. Open to all students. This is a *3 credit course. 

Prerequisites:

  • INT D 101 (or LEAD 3300)
  • INT D 207 (or equivalent from list of CILS pre-approved courses)

INT D 307 may be taken as an exploratory credit, however, if taken as an exploratory credit it cannot be used towards the CILS certificate.

Inspired to Lead: Time to Practice (INT D 407) 

Students will engage with one another in project-directed groups, putting to use the leadership skills, theory, and research they have enacted and participated in during their leadership education journey. Real-world problems will be presented, analyzed, and addressed head-on, offering real-world experiences aimed to motivate students to continue their leadership journeys beyond their time at the University. This course is mostly online and asynchronous, with a few synchronous requirements throughout the term. This is a *3 credit course. 

Prerequisites:

  • INT D 101 (or LEAD 3300)
  • INT D 207 (or equivalent from list of CILS pre-approved courses)
  • INT D 307 (or equivalent from list of CILS pre-approved courses)

INT D 407 may be taken as an exploratory credit, however, if taken as an exploratory credit it cannot be used towards the CILS certificate.

I really enjoyed this [INT D 407] course. It was an opportunity to reflect back on previous INT D courses and implement the concepts found within them.
