Memorial Legacy Giving
Alumni and friends of the university may choose to establish a memorial or tribute endowment to create a lasting legacy. Pooled donations can be used to create a named student award or significantly support a specific program, over a number of years.
Endowed funds are created in perpetuity and leave a long-term impact in your chosen area of interest. By bringing people together to honour a friend or a loved one, they can make donations to the fund and will receive a charitable tax receipt for their individual generosity.
How does it work?
Considering something in perpetuity? Here is how it works.
Friends and family collectively raise $50,000* to endow a scholarship in memory of a classmate:
- Each donor receives a charitable tax receipt** for the full amount of their gift.
- Names and addresses of donors (but not gift amounts) are sent to the next of kin on file with the 海角社区 or honouree so they can express thanks.
- Additional donations can be made to the scholarship endowment at any time.
- A scholarship in the honouree's name will be awarded annually, in perpetuity.
*A minimum gift of $50,000 is required to establish a new endowment. A new endowment can be funded over a period of up to five years by, for example, donating $10,000 per year for five years.
