Academic Resources
The Faculty of Engineering and the º£½ÇÉçÇø provide a variety of services to help you with your academics and provide personal support throughout your degree. From help with math and writing to a Librarian in Residence to help with your research, to a wide array of health and wellness resources, we're here to work with you and help you learn.
Academic Success Centre
The Academic Success Centre provides professional academic support to students. They help students in all programs, and at all levels of achievement and study. Specifically, they offer:
- Appointments with a Learning Specialist to address specific academic needs
- Workshops for Students focused on specific academic skills like study strategies, effective writing, note-taking, last-minute exam strategies, etc.
- Writing Services to help students with their written assignments.
- Their Peer Tutors can help you get ahead of assignment deadlines, brainstorm ideas, or get feedback on a draft paper.
Academic Accommodations
The º£½ÇÉçÇø provides accommodations to eligible students who encounter medical or non-medical restrictions to their ability to perform the activities necessary to pursue studies at a post-secondary level. Medical restrictions include a physical, mental, intellectual, cognitive, learning, communication, or sensory impairment, or a functional limitation that restricts the ability of an individual. Decima Robinson Support Centre
Mathematics and Statistics courses at the º£½ÇÉçÇø can be extremely challenging for some students. The Decima Robinson Centre offers:
- Drop-in Help for all 100- and 200-level MATH or STAT courses
- Free Exam Study Sessions
- A Precalculus Program for students taking MATH 134, 144 OR 154
- Free Weekly Review Seminars for STAT 151
Students' Union Tutor Registry
The Tutor Registry is an online resource for students and tutors. Students who are looking for extra support with their university and high school courses are invited to to find one-on-one tutors for their courses.
Engineering Students' Society
The ESS is a non-profit organization formed by undergraduate engineering students for undergraduate engineering students. They offer a number of academic services, including the aimed to provide mentorship and peer networking opportunities for first and second-year students.
Personal Support
Life events and experiences outside the classroom can have a significant impact on your studies. Counselling + Clinical Services
Counselling and Clinical Services (CCS) provides psychological treatment services to the students at the º£½ÇÉçÇø using a short-term therapy model. The intention is to help students cope with situations that impact their current level of mental health or illness to assist them to function successfully during their University experience.
Faculty of Education Clinical Services
The Faculty of Education offers low-cost therapy with Student Clinicians. Clinical Services is a training ground for graduate psychology students and a provider of affordable psychological services for the community. They serve individuals across all age groups, including the university community and the general public.
Wellness Supports - Social Work Team
Wellness Supports has a team of Registered Social Workers who work with students on a one-to-one basis. Contact their team by emailing wellness@ualberta.ca. They assist students in the following areas:

- Life skills development
- Family dynamics
- System navigation
First Peoples' House
First Peoples' House provides students with programs and services including: academic, emotional, physical, cultural, mental and financial wellness services.
Students' Union Peer Support Centre
The is a Students' Union service that offers a free, confidential, and non-judgemental place to talk to someone for support. Their trained volunteers offer peer support, crisis management, information and resources, as well as a safe and confidential place to talk. They also have a library of on and off campus resources to give you an idea of where to go when you leave the Centre.
Sexual Assault Centre
Confidential support for anyone affected by sexual assault or abuse, sexual harrassment, relationship violence, or stalking — by appointment, drop-in or virtually. Learn more here.
Resources for Black Students
The Black Students' Collective has compiled a list of resources, services, and activities that directly support Black students' academic development, student participation, and other student services for Black Students.
International Student Services
International Student and Visitor Services provides programs, services and events for º£½ÇÉçÇø international students and academic visitors. Our team of licensed immigration consultants and student advisors support international students and academic visitors with immigration and support in adjusting to Edmonton - helping them to succeed at the º£½ÇÉçÇø. International students who need advice relative to their academic or personal situation may contact International Student Services.
º£½ÇÉçÇø Health Centre
Whether you are feeling unwell or it's time for a regular check-up, the physicians and nurses at the University Health Centre are available to help and answer any questions you have relating to your healthcare journey. If you have any questions please contact UHC by phone at 780-492-2612 or email at hws@ualberta.ca. The Health Clinic is located at 2-200 Students' Union Building (SUB).
EmpowerMe
Students covered by the SU Comprehensive Care or Basic Care Health and/or Dental Plan, have access to , a mental health and wellness service. Empower Me has several professionals with various domains of expertise, including psychology, psychotherapy, social work, nutrition, etc. You can connect with EmpowerMe by calling 1-833-628-5589 (toll-free), available 24/7.
