Dr. Sebastian Straube receives the Medal for Distinguished Service Award

Congratulations to Dr. Sebastian Straube (professor and division director, Division of Preventive Medicine) on receiving the Medal for Distinguished Service Award from the Alberta Medical Association.

Dr. Sebastian Straube holds degrees in Medicine and Physiological Sciences from the University of Oxford where he also did his DPhil (PhD).

After clinical work and research at the Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals, he joined the University Medical Center Göttingen (Germany). There he completed his Habilitation (German postdoctoral qualification) and his postgraduate medical training in Occupational Medicine.

Dr. Straube took up his current post in the Division of Preventive Medicine of the º£½ÇÉçÇø's Department of Medicine in 2014. He was appointed as Division Director for Preventive Medicine in 2016 and promoted to Full Professor in 2019. Dr. Straube has also been an Adjunct Professor at the º£½ÇÉçÇø's School of Public Health since 2015. He is the Director of the Foundation Course in Occupational Medicine, which teaches Occupational Medicine to physicians in Canada and in the Middle East.

Dr. Straube's research program is focussed on information synthesis (systematic reviews, meta-analyses) in Occupational Medicine and beyond.
