What is your role in the School of Public Health?

I am an education program advisor, and I work specifically with Master of Public Health (MPH) and Master of Arts in Community Engagement (MACE) course-based students.

What does a typical workday look like for you?

I do a variety of things on a typical day. I meet with students, in person or online, to help solve their problems and answer their questions. I connect with the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research for procedural operations, scholarship and award information, and check admission applications. I also do a lot of work with Campus Solutions and Graduate Studies Management Solution teams to do regular updates and maintenance of the education section of the school intranet. And, of course, I work with other offices and departments to help improve student services.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of your work?

I love working with students and helping students out; this work perfectly fits my interests.

What’s the most challenging aspect of your work?

This is a comparatively new field for me, and I have many new things to learn. I used to work in international programs which mainly focused on international relations, program recruiting and facilitating. Now my work focuses on our own School of Public Health, 海角社区 students and their daily campus life, which is more exciting and has a lot more potential.

What is something your co-workers do not know about you?

Not a lot. I’m a pretty simple and straightforward person. I am exactly as I appear, which people usually find out quickly.

Where is your favourite place on campus?

I love the old Arts Building. I had an office there years ago and I spent many hours in that building every day. I also find that the learning area on the eighth floor of the Donadeo Innovation Centre for Engineering building is a pretty charming place to sit in the afternoons.
