W. Andy Knight wins Human Rights Award

Congratulations on receiving this honour from the John Humphrey Centre for Peace and Human Rights

6 August 2025

The John Humphrey Centre for Peace and Human Rights is an Edmonton-based charitable education organization that works to advance dignity, freedom, justice, and security through collaborative relationships and transformative education on peace and human rights. We have been working since 2004 to build Edmonton as a Human Rights City, a place where all belong, are valued and participate.

Since 2007, the John Humphrey Centre for Peace and Human Rights (JHC) has celebrated the contributions of local individuals, organizations and businesses in our community and province that are working to advance the cause of human rights and peace. We also wish to acknowledge and celebrate those who have contributed to and support our work.

In honour of the International Day of Peace, the John Humphrey Centre for Peace and Human Rights will host the 17th annual Human Rights Awards on September 18, 2025.

First established in 1981, International Peace Day calls for all humanity to commit to peace above all differences and to contribute to building a Culture of Peace. Over the years, we have been proud to award community members including Patricia Paradis, Amarjeet Sohi, Tom Engel, Dennis Edney, Marni Panas, Marco Luciano, Deborah Dobbins, Arbredeville, Temitope Oriola, Bernadette Iahtail, Ganiyat Sadiq, Yvonne Chiu, and many more.
