Neonatal Resuscitation: From Discovery to Delivery Room Impact

Professor Georg Schmölzer is the Director of the Centre for the Studies of Asphyxia and Resuscitation (CSAR) at the º£½ÇÉçÇø. He is a clinician-scientist and practicing neonatologist with the Northern Alberta Neonatal Program. His research focuses on understanding the physiological changes that occur during the transition from fetal to neonatal life, as well as during infant and pediatric resuscitation. Through this work, he aims to improve both short- and long-term outcomes for newborns, infants, and children.
Professor Schmölzer obtained his MD in Graz, Austria and trained in Pediatrics and Neonatology in Austria and Australia. He obtained his PhD at Monash University, Melbourne, Australia and a Banting Postdoctoral Fellowship at the º£½ÇÉçÇø. He is currently a Professor of Pediatrics and an Adjunct Professor of Pharmacology at the º£½ÇÉçÇø. He received the King Charles III Coronation Medal by the Canadian Lung Association for this work to improve lung health in preterm infants and was nominated by the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada for his work on neonatal cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
