Psychiatrists are medical doctors who specialize in mental health. They can assess, diagnose and prescribe medication for students struggling with more complex mental health concerns. 

To access a psychiatrist you need a referral from a physician at the University Health Centre or from your family doctor. Referrals can be faxed to 780-492-0013.

Psychiatrists will assess, treat, and stabilize patients, and then refer them back to their physician for routine follow up and maintenance.

Late Cancellation/No-show Policy

There is high demand for initial assessments with psychiatry. You will be charged a $50 fee if you no show or cancel without 24 hours notice. You will also be moved to the bottom of the waitlist, which may result in a 3-6 month wait for services.
